Vigna Ishwara - God of hurdles - Emotional Release
Why do we call him Vighneswhara? Is that something we worship the God who is creating problems or hurdles? Why should we pray such God?
There is something called emotional release. This is the principal teaching of experience bliss through emotion in Kashmir Shaivism.
Abhinava Gupta studied the relation between emotion and aesthetic experience which transform the bhava into rasa. The inner transformation of negative emotion into state of bliss happens as if an ice cube turns into water when comes in contact with higher temperature.
This is the Alchemy behind the transformation.
The same concept applied when you pray ganesha as vighna ishwara, you are perceiving the quality of hurdles and transform that into bliss and you are in control of that emotion or outcome.
Western philosophers like Carl Jung tried to explain the same through the experiment called 'Shadow work' and Aristatle explained the same through 'Catharsis'.
The same was also used by Bharatha muni for nava rasas. Bhakti rasa works on the same principle, it is transformation of bliss through bhakti.
Kali , transformation of fear and destruction into bliss.
